Gathering Anglican Church is a community of people in Spartanburg who are learning to follow Jesus together.
We gather to worship God, hear His Word, receive His grace, share life with one another, and proclaim the gospel in our community.
Our desire is not simply to have a good church service on Sunday. We want to become a people whose whole lives are shaped by Jesus.
Our vision is:
To be disciples who make disciples of Jesus Christ as we seek His Kingdom together.
That vision shapes everything we do.
What kind of church are we?
Jesus is at the center.
We believe Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Everything begins with Him—our worship, our teaching, our community, our mission, and our hope.
Scripture is our foundation.
We believe the Bible is God’s Word and the final authority for Christian faith and life. We want our beliefs and our lives to be continually shaped by Scripture.
We are Anglican.
We are part of the Anglican Church in North America. We treasure the historic Christian faith, the creeds of the Church, the sacraments, and the rich worship tradition of Anglicanism.
We believe Christianity is meant to be lived together.
Faith isn’t simply something we believe privately. We want to know one another, care for one another, pray for one another, forgive one another, and encourage one another to follow Jesus faithfully.
We are here for Spartanburg.
God’s Kingdom is bigger than Gathering. We want to love our neighbors, serve our community, partner with other churches and ministries, proclaim the gospel, and participate in God’s work around the world.
Our Story
Gathering grew out of God’s work in the lives of people who sensed a call to plant a church in Spartanburg.
Mike and Ellen Myers had been praying and discerning a call to church planting for several years. After Mike’s ordination and pastoral ministry in South Carolina and Colorado, that call became increasingly clear. In time, God led the Myers family and others to Spartanburg, where Gathering began taking shape.
Since then, our story has continued to be one of gathering, praying, trusting, and watching for what God is doing.
We don’t believe the Church belongs to us. It belongs to Jesus.
So we seek to be faithful with what He has entrusted to us and trust Him with what comes next.
Our Leadership
The Rev. Mike Myers, Pastor
Mike is the pastor of Gathering Church. He is passionate about Scripture, discipleship, Anglican worship, and helping people follow Jesus in daily life.
Mike and Ellen love living in Spartanburg, connecting with their neighbors, spending time outdoors, and growing together as a family.
Beth Bryant, Deacon
Beth helps provide pastoral care and counseling within the Gathering community. She has training and experience in pastoral counseling and loves helping people navigate difficult seasons through listening, prayer, and the hope of the gospel.
Aaron Harp, Worship Minister
Aaron leads Gathering in congregational worship. He has been involved in church music since childhood and has a passion for leading God’s people in faithful, joyful worship. Aaron, his wife, Chelsea, and their daughters moved to Spartanburg during the summer of 2020 and found a church home at Gathering.
Hannah Duncan, Church Administrator
Hannah helps keep the practical life of Gathering moving forward. She and her husband, Andrew, have been part of the Gathering community since moving to Spartanburg in 2024.
Adam Fleming, Youth Minister
Adam leads our ministry to young people and is passionate about teaching and discipling students. He and Camilla have been part of Gathering since 2023.
